Now more than ever, data analytics and new technology are becoming more prevalent, enabling audit teams to validate their department’s need for resources to fix an issue within organizations. With the continuing maturation of powerful new automation tools like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotic process automation (RPA), audit teams will increasingly be able to play a strategic role by utilizing these resources to identify new issues and manage emerging risks. Of course, that future is dependent on the swift adoption of new technologies in order to reduce time spent on admin and other routine tasks, freeing auditors to think more strategically and add more value to the organization.
