Webinar Description:
The hospital setting can create extreme levels of stress for patients, and often, hospitals have insufficient prevention measures in place to deter instances of violence. In response, California issued Title 8, Section 3342, the most stringent government regulations for violence prevention in healthcare.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise in violent and hostile incidents has further amalgamated. Recent studies indicate that 44% of nurses reported experiencing physical violence and 68% reported experiencing verbal abuse. Given the continued increase in workplace violence incidents, there are likely to be additional regulations passed across states.
The session will cover how to evaluate existing workplace violence prevention programs against existing standards, including California’s Title 8, Section 3342. The course will include information about the workplace violence prevention plan (“plan”), violent incident log, review of the plan and related operational procedures, workplace violence prevention training, reporting practices, and recordkeeping practices to reduce the risk of workplace violence.
