Webinar Description:

As outlined in the Health and Human Services Healthcare sector cybersecurity strategy, many new critical changes have been introduced or will be launched shortly. Some of the more critical changes are:

  • Healthcare Sector Cybersecurity Performance Goals (CPG)
  • Incentive program for hospitals to invest in advanced security practices to implement “enhanced” CPGs, i.e., similar to meaningful use program.
  • CMS to propose new cybersecurity requirements for hospitals through Medicare and Medicaid
  • OCR will update the HIPAA security rule in Spring 2024 to include new cybersecurity requirements.
  • HHS increases monetary penalties and adds additional resources to investigations and proactive audits

These changes stress that cybersecurity is not an IT issue and Cybersafety is patient safety.

This Tech Talk panel will discuss the changes and their impact on the healthcare sector, how to best prepare for these changes, and what free resources are available to the healthcare sector to make the required improvements to the information security practices.
